Summit Park's Grand Opening Celebration

The Summit Park Grand Opening Celebration was held in 2014. Watch the video below to see the excitement!

Blue Ash Promise

The City of Blue Ash wanted a remarkable public space. One that will become a regional treasure and provide opportunities for young and old 365 days a year with a focus on community, education, health and wellness, the environment and entertainment.

Learn more about how we have continued to answer the call of our community through Summit Park master planning, community surveys, the passing of Issue 15 and our One-Third Promise:

Master Planning:

Engaging the community is important to Blue Ash leadership. During the master planning process and continually after, the city has listened to public input from a number of sources. Master planning “thinktanks” with local business, organizations, stakeholders and the residents were held on multiple occasions, asking the simple question, “What would you like this park to be?” We continued to listen by inviting open inquiries via comment cards and emails which were all taken into consideration and displayed in the master plan.

Community Survey:

Blue Ash completed community surveys in 2002 and 2008. These large scale statistically accurate surveys provided feedback on what was important to residents. It was made clear that the development of the airport property was the highest priority and many community members were most interested in seeing additional greenspace.

Issue 15:

In 2006, Blue Ash voters approved a levy that initiated an earning tax increase from 1 to 1.25% which on average generates $5,000,000 annually. The funds from this tax increase are earmarked for quality of life improvements which in 2012 included the purchase of the 130 acres of land from the City of Cincinnati. Funds continue to be used as we enter the construction phase of Summit Park which began in June 2013.

One-Third Promise:

Blue Ash’s success is often credited to its ability to deliver on commitments. Early in the development of the City, a dedication was set on providing a well-balanced community providing an equal balance of space; 1/3 residential, 1/3 commercial and 1/3 public space. Today, that effort is still firmly in place as Blue Ash adds an impressive 130 acres to its public space inventory.
